A purge system keeps a protective gas inside the enclosure. The gas pressure keeps flammable gases, vapors, and dust out — so standard electrical equipment can operate safely in a hazardous area.
We integrate purge and pressurization systems sized for enclosures from small junction boxes to large multi-door control panels. Each system is selected for enclosure size, hazardous area classification, and your application.
The purge hardware is one component of the panel. Our engineers specify the purge unit, pressure monitoring, and safety interlocks for every project. You get a complete, documented system — not a box of parts.

Built around Best Purging Systems units
We specify and integrate Type Y and Z enclosure purging units from Best Purging Systems — UL-listed hardware designed to meet NFPA 496 and NEC requirements for Class I hazardous locations.
These units regulate and monitor the protective gas supply, with color-coded pressure indication and optional differential pressure switches for loss-of-pressure signaling. We size the unit to your enclosure volume, then design the rest of the panel around it — mounting, wiring, interlocks, and documentation included.

Our Steinhauer CNC machine cuts the openings for the purge hardware.

NFPA 496
Choosing the right purge system
Three purge types. The correct choice depends on your area classification and the equipment inside the enclosure.
Type X
Division 1 → non-hazardous
Lets standard equipment operate in a Division 1 area. If protective gas pressure fails, the system removes power automatically. Use Type X for the most hazardous areas.
Type Y
Division 1 → Division 2
Lets Division 2-rated equipment operate in a Division 1 area. If pressure fails, an alarm warns personnel. Immediate power removal is not required.
Type Z
Division 2 → non-hazardous
Lets standard equipment operate in a Division 2 area. The simplest of the three systems — an alarm warns personnel if pressure fails.
